A meme is an element of culture that is passed from one person to another via internet. Memes can have a profound impact on a community, whether they are funny or simply stupid; they can bring people together through their message. Many memes in the past have succeeded, and recently the meme “do you kno the wae” has been particularly successful in this aspect.

“Do you kno da wae” is a popularized phrase from a clan known as the “Ugandan Knuckles.” This clan resides within the videogame known as VR chat, and they have taken the world by storm; now, practically everybody in the northeast has said “Do you kno the wae” at least once. The meme and the video game itself managed to create not only a clan of people gathering through the game, but also a community of people throughout New Englan through a meaningless sentence. To me, the unification of mass amount of people is amazing.
