Spring Term, and the Ninth Grade

With the spring term well underway, the Fay community is buzzing with the familiar frenzy of productivity. The spring term is often regarded as the most relaxed of all the terms, the atmosphere even somewhat quenched following the release of high school results. Still, this is the term where all the fun abounds. Events on the calendar for the coming few months include Fay’s annual Founders’ Day, Carnival Day, and the Final Dance. On the 9th grade schedule there is, as always, an even wider range of activities lying ahead - the Cape Cod retreat, the cookout, as well as the cruise.
I spoke to a few ninth graders, including enthusiastic Rachel ‘17, third-year ninth grader, who smiled brightly as she spoke about the spring term, “As my third spring term at Fay, I have come to realize and appreciate getting to go out with my friends more; hanging out in the quad, going to DTS more, and having parties … spending time with my friends, that’s really what it’s about!”
“This being my third year at Fay,” Rama ‘17 said, “the spring term always provides a fresh start for most. Especially for us ninth graders, it’s the highlight of the Fay experience before moving on to high school. It carries a special kind of nostalgia with it, because these are our last few months together.”
“The spring term presents more privileges to ninth graders who’ve worked hard during the course of the previous two terms,” Noon ‘17 said. “It’s almost a reward for us, and with the warming weather, the excited atmosphere of the community gets us ready for the summer.”
“The spring term is as fast as it is memorable. It seemed like just a couple of days ago that I was walking in as a ninth grader, and now so quickly, I’m walking away as a tenth grader,” Avery ‘17 remarked happily.
“For me,” Jade ‘17 said, “the spring term is my favorite. Especially as a ninth grader, we are all getting closer as a grade and are embracing the final moments and months we have together. It’s warm outside and everyone just seems happier. It’s the perfect way to make more memories and prepare to say goodbye. I love it!”
With the sun beaming brighter and longer everyday, the thought of us leaving this school and the memories made here becomes just a little bit more agonizing as each day wears away. So, with the time slowly ticking away, it’s our collective duty to live it as happily as we can.
